I have been following the fabulous bentos numerous ladies have been packing for their families. Alas, my packed lunches are only these:
Chicken pies from a delightful couple operating a small stall in Taman Maluri: (Vegetables not included!)
The Yong Tau Fong are freshly made by an enterprising lady using an old family recipe:
Chee Cheong Fun:
Just look at my assorted containers! Not very bento!
Found this site that teaches you the basics of how to fill a classic bento box. Go on, take a look!
And very fascinating to read: how bento lunches helped me lose 30 LBS!!!!!
And Bento Pet is my favorite local Bento lady and she is holding a competition with fantastic price for the winner and her blog is On a Bento Frenzy!
And be truly inspired by Sharon at her blog: Growing Fun With 3 Lil Angels!

LOL!! Emily, so this is what you mean pack lunch from the stall and put into the bento boxes...
"Chicken pies from a delightful couple operating a small stall in Taman Maluri: (Vegetables not included!)" HAHAHAHA!! Cute... I like the Veg not included part!!
Btw, thanks for the link to JustBento. Did u notice I have the same blue bento box... ^_*
LOL! Wendy! Well the verdict is not out yet (Bento Pet has not replied to my Q) so we settle this later! LOL!
Yup! JustBento is very informative and fun to visit! And large print too! BTW what are the measurements for the blue bento box?
I think 6" x 3" x 1.5" .... this is base on the ones I am using today. Will confirm tonight...
Oh Wendy, Bento Pet said: A mix of home cooked and non-home cooked food is fine.
Darn... means I have to have steamed vegs and not salads! LOL!
Why? because salads are not cook? LOL!!!
And the bento box size is about the one I measured above...
I just read your conversations, you gals really crack me up. One of the bento gurus said that real Japanese use an assortment of boxes too. It's just for blogging, a matching set makes better pics ^_*. As far as I'm concerned, your food looks yum!
FYI, the blue bento box is actually quite small. Bought it from the 100 yen shop in Puchong. Yup, actually drove all the way there to check out the place, but that was before the fuel hike... haha. There're branches in SS2 and Cheras too. Bentopet did mention that they are not stocking up on Bento stuff though.
Hi Sharon, The chicken pies are rather nice and they are actually small so two will be just nice! But have not bought them recently.
BTW where is the 100yen shop in Cheras?
Emily, wow!. It sure look delicious and I believe that it taste as delicious.
