Cushion Cover Exchange, CCE

Had problems uploading pictures of Charlene's CCE to me at the group site, but here they are finally!

Look dramatically striking on a dark background!

And demure on a light background! Look equally good both ways!

And buttons and buttons holes! Have not done any button holes for a long time!

Thanks Charlene for a lovely piece in our CCE. And from MyAuntsAttic too, Wow!

My CCE to Barbara J!

Although I finished the primary stitching for the three pieces much earlier, I managed to delay their sending off to the recipient a week after the dateline! Any way, hope they were worth the wait!

This is how I finished the stitched pieces, with red and white check cotton and to be attached to the cushion covers by four white buttons with a floral centre.

BJ loves French Redwork, so Casamia is the easiest thing I can remember the link to!

I can not recal where is heart freebie is from, but I really enjoyed doing the borders!

And this is one of the three freebies from The Gift of Stitching EMag, and which MW worked hard to get them for those of us in the dark! The heart part was done sometime ago but I added the borders just for BJ! This piece was for the bonus cushion cover measuring 20" length x 11-1/2" height cushon which is good for lower back support while at your desk.

Update on LDMSal

I have only been stitching on the LDMS and here is where I am at right now!

1st Day of a New Lunar Month

There are two auspicious days in any given Lunar month (Chinese calendar) and today is the 1st day of a new month, Choh Yat. The other day being the 15th day - Choh SabNg. Some folks will observe these days by going vegetarian for the whole day on these two dates.

And thanks to this practice, look what I found at the wet market today? One of my favorite Chinese treats ~ AngKoo Kueh! A Bonanza find I must add - seven flavours all at one go.

Ground peanuts with sugar filling, red bean paste filling, pandan custard filling, sweet coconut filling, green bean paste filling, sweet corn paste filling, taosar paste filling!

And here is my favorite place to search for recipes!

Upcoming Festival Goodie!

Look what I had this evening, Ping Pei Mooncake with Lotus Paste Filling with Salted Egg Yokes, enjoyed with Chinese tea!

* For readers from abroad, there are two types of mooncakes, with baked pastry to be eaten as it is and that with unbaked skin to be eaten chilled. Ping Pei mooncake is the unbaked version. And then are jelly mooncakes!

And here is the link to simple to make at home mooncake:

HEALTH ~ QUESTION & ANSWER SESSION

**HEALTH** QUESTION & ANSWER SESSION

Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?
A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... don't waste them On exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafyvegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodnessthat way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up!

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good!

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!! ... Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger!!!!!! . You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: Are you crazy? **HELLO Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.

Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!

Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.

And remember:
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOOHOO, What a Ride"
