I made my own shampoo today!

I know my shampoo supply was running low but I abstained from buying a new bottle on numerous trips to the shopping malls and jusco..... just because I can not bear the idea of throwing away yet another plastic bottle without reusing it and honestly how many empty shampoo bottles can you reuse?

Thank you Google! Here's what I found when I typed in "homemade shampoos" !

Video on: How to make your own shampoo and rinse!

I made enough for one small shampoo bottle and used the entire contents for one hair wash this evening......

As for the rinse, I will try the recipe as soon as I have another empty bottle!

p.s. The homemade shampoo works fine!

Visit to Daiso at IOI Mall, Puchong

Sharon and girlet were there at 11am today and they were there in time for the lion dance! While Diyana and myself both arrived at about the same time 11.30ish; Sharon was kind enough to let us visit Daiso before meeting up for lunch at Wendy's (not exactly wastefree lunch!)

Diyana went crazy over the many hues of felt to be found at Daiso and she did come away with quite a few packs!

I managed to get myself two non-bento things and no plastic bag! although Diyana got herself her first Daiso plastic bag! Use it wisely, LOL!

This must be my third piece over the last five years!

Above Picture: No viable idea why I bought this stencil set other then ~ so many pieces for RM5! LOL

Saturdy 28 March 09 ~ Make a Date with Mother Earth!

EDITED:
We had the TV, astro and fan on in the living hall, kitchen ~ only the small fridge was operating, the 3 door fridge scheduled to go back into operations tomorrow morning. With the exception of the DVD player and amplifier on standby mode (they being connected on the same extension plug, everything else was off including the lights on our landing at the staircase!

This saturday 28th March Earth Hour is again; I remember not being able to participate last year cos we were at an official function. Hopefully this year can persuade DH to watch TV in darkness for an hour!

A couple of blogger friends have blogged about EarthHour 2009, read about it at: KeatsThesSunshineGirl and at BentoPet blogs.

What I have been doing for the past year:

1. I do my utmost best to not bring home any new plastic bags when I go shopping for fresh produce at the wet market ~ something of which I am happy to say that I have had great results! Down to nil each trip with an exception of one tiny bag on two separate occasions!

2. On the whole, I have reduced my consumption of plastic bags from shopping down to almost nil or maybe 95% from before. But still am quilty of buying lots of stuff with wasteful packaging! Have to relook at ways to curtail that!

3. Surf the internet in darkness! unless of course I am typing from notes!

4. In the evenings, no unnecessary lights are left on.

5. Switching off switches instead of leaving them on 'stand-by mode'

6. Yes, I turn off the tap while I'm brushing my teeth or while soaping myself and while shampooing my hair too!

7. And separate my garbage for recycling!

8. And practising wastefree packaging bentos and when buying food home - I always use my metal tiffin carriers!

So? What have you done this past year? 6 months? 3 months? month? or weeks? to give Mother Earth a helping hand?

If You Need A Good Laugh... Read This!

Had a good chuckle this morning.... As always, my sister sends me the most hilarious and fun stuff via the internet!

QUOTE:
A woman had just returned to her home from an evening of church services, when she was startled by an intruder.

She caught the man in theact of robbing her home of its valuables and yelled:
'Stop! Acts 2:38!'
(Repent and be Baptized, in the name of Jesus Christ, so that your sins may be forgiven.)
The burglar stopped in his tracks.

The woman calmly called the police and explained what she had done. As the officer cuffed the man to take him in, he asked the burglar: 'Why did you just stand there? All the old lady did was yell a scripture to you.

''Scripture?' replied the burglar. 'She said she had an Axe and Two 38s!'

Send this to someone who needs a laugh today and remember: Knowing scripture can save your life - in more ways than one!

Happiness is not a goal; it is a by-product.

Gurls Day Out Visiting 100Yen Outlets!

Did you know that being a veteran bento stasher, you only need 15 minutes at each outlet to get what you need!?? I was the last to arrive at 100Yen Tmn Desa this morning at 11am and Sharon was already paying for some snacks for the two little gurls we had with us today! BentoPet was already shooing me out of the door to get going to our second outlet scheduled for today's visitation! 100Yen Kuchai was more fruitful for me .... no, no more bento stuff for me! I got some condiments containers (made in Japan ones!) and drainer for washed fruits & vegs for the sink.

I think we arrived at Rosie's at about noon and quickly settled down to an early lunch, boy we ladies sure were hungry! We started off with mushroom soup for BentoPet, Kelly, Kelly's little girl with cutesy dimples! and Sharon, while Amanda (Sharon's cutie) and I had chicken soup. All of us went for the prawn sphagetti followed up with sago pudding. I could not resist ordering crepes to go with our coffee! As you can see from the picture below, we cleaned up real good!

Pic Below: Look what Bento Pet gave me in our swap!

I Finally Did It! What? You Need to Get to The Bottom....

DH and I were out for our morning walk today.... I did 4~1km rounds in 55mins ~ first round was inclusive of chatting with fellow residents on the situation that we are going through at the apartment complex.

Breakfast was two slices of brown bread with canola spread and orange marmalade; one soft boiled egg, a mug of plain unsweetened coffee, slices of crispy sweet apples and a couple wedges of orange.

Rushed out to pick up mother for a visit to puchong; had an early lunch with her at the usual coffeeshop. I had a small plate of char siew with dry wantan noodles with a side order of white chicken drumstick. Another mug of kopi kurang manis.

Met a Sunshine Girl at 1.30pm at the Raintree club where I had another lunch! I woofed down some sticks of satay and all the sandwich off the Club Sandwich platter! Liquids were iced lemon tea and followed by coffee. By 5pm I had three meals already! Aiks! And I had only stepped on the scale this morning (which recorded a loss of 1.5lbs!). I of course had to scale down portions at dinner.

Dinner was: two tablespoons of brown rice, bayam in a potato and onion based soup, steam 'tofu fish' with shredded young ginger and tomatoe with a dash of chinese cooking wine; and yesterday's braised fried tofu with fresh mushroom with tri color capsicum topping.

After months of deliberating, I FINALLY WENT and got me a starter kit of SK-II! Was supposed to start today (as told to Wendy) but decided to finish off the balance of my current lot.

The essential kit cost RM98.00 and should last me two weeks..... will I see results in that short period of time? Of the four items in the picture (Left to Right) the third item is not part of the essential kit but I asked and was given a sample to try! Hey! anyone here using SK-II?

Exercise and Favorite Pastime!

While I did not have a morning walk yesterday, I cleaned the apartment for 2 hours and sweated half a bucket! In addition to resuming the morning walks, I have cut back on food portions at dinner.

This morning I had 3rounds of 1km in 35mins!! Probably due to the reason that the sun was up and I had my eyes to the ground and trying to hurry up and get out of the areas which were unshaded!

And look what I found on my camera!
